This web log was first conceptualized for the All U.P. Workers Union Manila only, but later on utilized for the rest of the All U.P. Workers Union. The All U.P. Workers Union is the duly recognized bargaining unit since August 7, 2001, representing the rank-and-file non-academic (administrative) personnel of the University of the Philippines. The union comprises more than 60% of the 8,500 administrative employees of the university. The All U.P. Workers Union Manila is a chapter of the All U.P. Workers Union in U.P. Manila. U.P. Manila is an autonomous Constituent University of the University of the Philippines System. Otherwise known as the "Health Sciences Center", it was composed of the different health colleges of the university like the Colleges' of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, etc., including the School for the Health Sciences that offers ladderrized community oriented health education from Midwifery to Doctor of Medicine. It has control of the Philippines General Hospital (PGH) - the largest in the Philippines at 1,500 bed capacity. UP Manila also houses the Philippine's National Institutes of Health - the country's foremost research institution on the health sciences. The administrative rank-and-file employees of UP Manila totals to 3,400, or 40% of the 8,500 rank-and-file administrative employees of the entire U.P. System.
